Torque Converter, lock...unlock!

Didn't know a thing about the TC locking and unlocking bofore reading the post on this site. Have done a little research and understand the principle of the lock up. I gather that the tranny produces a lot more heat during unlock, so it must be a good thing to keep it locked if pulling a trailer, what is the best way to achieve max lock-up while towing. Lower gears and keep your foot in it? Or am I misinterpeting the info I read? TIA
Jeff

Just let it do it's thing! It's function is for a reason. If you have a cooler, you're helping keep the heat down anyway. The whole TQ thing get's blown out of whack. Although, it does because like me, it drives most people nuts!
