Good Deal...

I found this in my local Photo Ad, and I was wondering if you all thought it was a good deal. The reason I was looking at it was because I wanted to get 4.56 gears anyways...
It reads:
"8.8 Ford Rear End- 4.56 new ring and pinion, new detriot locker, welded trused, double shocked, everything new, $1000."
First, will this fit our trucks? I thought it might be a good deal because new gears are 250 bucks not including installation, plus this one has the gears in it, plus it would allow me to upgrade to rear discs? Opinions???

Ask him what it was taken out of. Do not tell him what you have. What year is it? 31 or 28 spline? Our trucks have a 31 spline carrier and rating of 3800 lbs. The Explorers use an 8.8 as do the Mustangs.
I supect that the ratings for the Explorer and Mustang are lower. Also make sure it has provisions for RWABS, an antilock ring and sensor is required.
