short throw shifter for the 5 speed?

Does anybody make a short throw shifter for the 5 speed? I'd like to decrease the throw for quicker shifts.

Unhappy Sadly no...

but there is hope! Hurst might look into making one next year. Some members here have emailed them and that was their reply. Its been discussed the 88-96 Hurst shifter might work if the trannies are the same. But I don't think anyone has looked into the similarities. Someone also mentioned the the early 90's T-bird had the M5OD (our tranny too) and try seeing if the Hurst for it would work. If it would then all you would need to do is lengthen the shifter unless you want to reach down to the floor to shift! Maybe its time to contact Hurst again to see if theres any developments!

I don't know if the M5OD is the same as what we have in these things. According to my build sheet it's a Mazda M5R2-C. I don't remember hearing anything on the late model Bronco lists about the problems that the 97+ seem to have with the 5 speed. I know the old M5OD wasn't the best tranny in the world, but they held up in a 5-6,000 pound truck just fine.

I need to do some more searching on this. If the T-bird setup will work, I have no problem lengthening the shifter. I might even put a dog leg in it to move it a little further from my knee.

I read on these boards that our trannies are the M5OD it also says that in my Haynes manual. I believe the R1 is the Ranger version of the tranny and the R2 is ours. Someone like JMC or Matt90GT could clear things up.
