2006 fx4 5.4l transmission quit working so I bought a parts truck 2006 xlt 4x4 5.4l I was told the motor was bad motor but good transmission. The only difference was the transfer case was manual and mine is electronic.
I got the replacement installed and it’s not engaging any gears. It’s not making any noises. When I changed the fluid and filter it had the yellow plug in pan so I guess that is the first time it’s been changed. There wasn’t any metal on magnet except what I believe come from 15yrs of use. I’m not getting any transmission codes.
i just want to know if I’m missing something. Did I waste money on this transmission and need another one?

 

It's either a bad transmission or you didn't get the torque converter seated correctly.
