Keep in mind its a 4R70W, the same tranny the 5.4 uses and I believe the 5.4. So it can handle at least as much as the 5.4 dishes out. Also, the torqueis probably more important. The 70 in 4R70W means 700 Lb-Ft torque rated. If the Torque converter is capable of doubling torque from the engine then 350 Lb-Ft from the engine would be the max you would want to deliver. On the other hand I could be all wet here.

Torque = (Horsepower * 5252) / RPM

Beedee beedee beedee....

Tiger is correct. Torque is the important measurement. HP is just a measurement of how much "work" could be done by the engine...Torque be "the force"...Maybe I should say torque is the more important measurement...I guess it's conceivable that an increase in RPMs (i.e. revolving speed) could damage a tranny, even though it could take the torque...So HP limit would be important to know too for a tranny

Beedee beedee beedee...
