I have searched the forum and I am coming up with a lot of conflicting stories. I have a 2006 expedition 2wd with the 5.4. This morning i slowed down for a turn and when I started going again it shifted into 2nd and then when it shifted to 3rd it was like it went into neutral. Just free revving and not going anywhere. It wasn't like slipping. It wasn't grabbing at all like I had popped it into neutral. Prior to this it has had no issues at all. No slipping or hard shifting. It has been perfectly normal.
any insight as to what I may be dealing with? I've searched the forum and have read posts that required a full rebuild and I've read some that were a simple fix. Any info is greatly appreciated.

 

First thing to do is check the OBD2 with a scanner that can read Ford transmission codes.
