A few months ago my transmission stopped going into 1st or second. When I start out its like starting in 3rd with a manual tranny. There is also no O/D, and the O/D light is flashing. my reverse is strong and good. And when I put it into 4 low it pulls like a beast. When I am going about 70mph its sitting at a constant 3000RPMs I was thinking it could be a shift solenoid or after doing some research maybe the 1-2 actuator or the output speed sensor. I dont want to spend the money on a rebuild if it is something I can change it myself. Any help would be much appreciated!

 

If the O/D light is flashing, it's setting OBD2 codes. You need a high end scanner to read out Ford transmission codes, take it to the dealer, transmission shop, or good independent general repair shop to get them read. The code readers at the auto parts stores used for free code reading won't read them.

 

If you're trying not to spend too much, throwing parts at a guess based on symptoms and Google isn't the best route.
