92' F-150 T18 Tranny Shift Problem
92' F-150 T18 Tranny Shift Problem
I was wondering if anyone might have an idea of what is causing my, new to me, 92' F150 4 spd not being able to find 'gate' to shift into gear.
The shifter has too much play in it and have to hunt around to find 'gate' for it to slide into gear. Pretty much all gears have the issue.
Not familiar at all with the T18, which I understand it is, tranny code F on door label.
Does it have a top plate that has forks and rods that wear and need replaced or what is needed to fix it?
Cheers, Allen

I could be completely FOS, but if you pull the stick out there should be a nylon type bushing on the end. If it is shot or gone then it can make finding the gears almost impossible. You should be able to remove the stick without taking the trans apart at all.
This is based on my experience with other stick shift transmissions. Hope it helps.
