Transmission whine?

Loud whine. Sounds like it is coming from dash. Does not occur when in neutral or park. RPM related. The higher the RPM the higher the pitch of whine. Shifting to nuetral, coasting, revving the engine... No whine. In an older car I would suspect speedo cable ( reference noise). Drive train related ?

My 2004 new body FX4 is making a similar noise to what you are describing. My noise is coming from the torque converter. I am gathering parts to replace it and rebuild my trans now.

I agree with this. I have the whine. Rebuilding my 4r70, and building a 4r100 to put in when the 5.4 goes in.

Edit: He probably figured it out by now, but still good info.
