HELP Transmission swap question*******HELP

hello I have a 2000 5.4 triton 4x4 XLT automatic with 86,000 miles... And it won't shift from 2ed to 3rd... When it tries to shift it just revs up really high without accelerating. I checked the trans fluid and it was red and smelt fine. Dident see any metal shavings so I wasent worried I thought it was the clutch so I brought it to the shop in 2ed gear going 30 the whole way... Anyways they called me and said the the trans was done for so I'm wondering how hard is it to make this truck stick? What would I need? And would it be ALOT more to do a swap? My local shop told me 2,200 for a used trans with 130,000 miles(with labor)? Thank you!

Sounds little a lot money for a used trans. Find out how they will charge ya to put in a trans you get to them. Here is a link to an online trans rebuilder:http://www.gottransmissions.com/ Hope this helps ya. Here is another one too! http://www.jasperengines.com/transmissions.php

The only stick that will fit is a M5OD-R2 out of a 97-03 4.6 F150, and it won't hold up to the torque of a 5.4.

Find a decent local rebuilder to do yours. You should be able to get a rebuild with a warranty for 2200 bucks including labor

Now - gonna wait for a tranny expert to see this, but I'm not convinced that it's done for.

I agree I did a little research and they said the clutch was the first suspect. But what do I know haha
