Rebuild

I believe I have the M5R2 tranny. My truck is the 03 4.6 v8 with the 5 speed manual transmission with the hurst shifter on it. I think it's time for a rebuild. How hard is it to rebuild it yourself. And how hard is it to pull the transmission? I see there a bar that goes across the frame where the torsion bars crank into it so any idea how hard it is to drop and rebuild yourself ? I know there's a lot of hoses and wires that hook up to it it seems like

By rebuild, do you mean a clutch & hydraulics job or have you lost gears?

Well honestly not to sure I'm not to familiar with transmissions. I did have a clutch kit and slave cylinder just out into it but I think it's timer a total gear/ bearing rebuild because when I'm driving it done the road 1,3,5 gears all make like a metal on metal grinding sound. So I'm thinking total rebuild is well needed but not sure

Sounds link syncro noise, but the version of these trannies used in F150s are pretty notchy. It's not a terribly difficult manual trans. to rebuild, but you may just want to drain the fluid to see what comes out. ATF is spec'd, but try filling it with some GM Syncromesh to see if it helps to dampen some of the noise.
