Hello folks. I have an issue. Got a 98 f150 5.4 lariat and had the transfer case replaced at 106000 miles. Well the shop never got the 4 wheel drive working so the left the electronic shift motor unplugged and i drove around in 2 wheel. Just recently a snow storm hit in buffalo. My truck was stuck. So I plugged the motor in and put it in four wheel drive . Got unstuck easy. Put the switch back in 2 wheel unplugged the .motor and bam now the truck is stuck in 4 wheel low except the front wheels arnt turning. I can spin the back wheels in the snow and the truck will only go ten miles an hour. Anyone have any ideas. Thanks.

 

HAD SAME PROBLEM AS YOU BUT NOT ANY MORE !
Just had my 1999 F-150 4x4 in shop today NOV.21/14. spent 8:30 to 1:30 there. they found the problem, the transfer case shift motor was faulty. I watched the mechanic, put another on my truck & 4x4 & light both worked great, we even took for test drive, in the snow.
Suggest you try that. Hope it works - good luck
