Valvoline maxlife synthetic AFT in M5OD
Valvoline maxlife synthetic AFT in M5OD (not mercon v)
Used this stuff as is was under 5 a quart and I only needed 4 (took just under 4 qts till it starting coming out of the fill hole).
Had 93k on the original fluid, so I figured I'd change it. Shifted smooth before, shifts smooth now. It was easy.
I used one of these pumps that attaches to the bottle. $8 at the parts store. Took 20 mins total including draining. I'd do this more often if it wasn't just a waste of time on a manual. I like keeping up on maintenance and maybe even over doing it at times, but the original ATF with 93k on it was still pretty red. I was expecting it would be dark. It doesn't leak a drop so I probably won't be doing this again for another 100k. If I still have this truck, that is.
Note: I used the dextron/mercon synthetic ATF not mercon v. I know this is not good in the auto transmissions, but will be cause problems for the M5OD manual?
