2009 F-150 4.6 Transmission Problem/Question

Hi. New to the board, and posting for my father.
My Pop's has an 09 2WD with the 4.6 engine. He bought the truck new and only has around 40,000 miles on it.

My father has never had any reason to shift the truck into any gear other than Drive or Reverse. But, the other day he had a friend pull the truck up the boat ramp for him. His friend snatched the shifter all the way down into 1st. The truck wouldn't recognize the gear, and actually rolled backwards when the brake was released.

Since this happened (last week), the truck still drives fine for everyday use, but it still experiences the same problem when placed into 1st or 2nd on the column.

Anybody ever heard of or experienced this?

chadbelectric,

Have you or your dad taken your truck to the dealer to have them take a look?

We have not. I know my dad, and if it's not an issue for everyday driving, he's not going to fork out any money to have it looked into.

I was trying to be pro-active and see what I could find out for him. I'm hoping that it doesn't become a more serious issue.
