I bought a 2001 supercrew 5.4 4x4 with a bad trans for $1900. It currently has a 1l3p-ja transmission. What is different with a yl3p-la transmission and can this be installed? Is it a direct bolt in? They are both 4r70w transmissions . There are more of these available and for a cheaper price.

How about the 21lp-fa? Do these numbers matter as long as it's 5.4 and 4x4?

 

I think any F-150 V-8 4x4 4R70W from 99-03 should work.
