O.k., I've done this a million times before, backing out of the driveway the R gear is a little hard to get into, so I usually depress the clutch in and out once and then it slides right into reverse no problem. Today, in a hurry, I jammed it into gear and heard "crunch" and the shifter went basically dead, almost as if it snapped. Now, the thing is stuck in gear (probably 4th is my guess) This is my girlfriends car, and she's gonna kill me when she finds out what I've done. What HAVE I done? HELP!!!!!! I'm freak'in out here.......

all I can say is that her car is.....um...er...ah...well, let's just say it's not a FORD (boooo hisssss I know, I know, it's a lease, what can I do?)

 

Nevermind.....took it in...it was a shifter cable. Amen for warranties. Oh, and thanks for all the replies....they were very helpful.
