I have a 2001 F150 Supercrew 5.4 and I have a grinding noise coming from my transfer case. Its really bad when taking off from a dead stop and gets softer as I go through my gears. The noise only happens in 2wd. I have replaced the IWE solenoid and that changed nothing. I also have what seems to be a dead coil pack it misses like crazy when driving but when at idle it doesn't miss. I am clueless at this point. Please Help......

 

2001's don't have IWE - what did you really replace?

Is your 4wd **** or lever?

How many miles on the truck, how many miles on the spark plugs?

Have you checked the OBD2 for codes?
