Transmission Dipstick Length

I recently replaced my transmission (1997 F-150 built Jun 1996--4.6L V8, 4x4 XLT) and found the existing dipstick broken at the tip. Ford has since re-designed the dipstick so I need to replace both dipstick and tube at a cost of$70 plus tax!

I went to pick and pull and found one that's too long. If someone has a dipstick part number F65P-7A020-EA, please pull it, measure it and send me the results. That way, I can cut down the used one and rest assured I have the right level of tranny fluid.

Thanks in advance.

What transmission does your truck have? 4R70W? What is the code on the door jam?

Okay, I just measured my trans dipstick. My truck has the 4R70W and is a 4x4 as indicated in my signature.
The dipstick measures:
35 3/16" to Hot Full
35 15/16" to Hot Add
36 7/16" to Cold Add
