disconnect overdrive? temp fix

i have a 98 f150 4.6 auto trans, and the overdrive switch on the shift lever is broke and i think its like 2 wires that are torn also. my truck is stuck in overdrive i believe, and i was wondering if there is a way to disconnect the overdrive or turn it off without that OD switch until i can get a new shift lever?

thanks in adavance.

the truck *should* be in OD for all normal driving. You'd only want to disable OD if you were doing heavy towing type scenario.

Why do you want it turned off? Like Pat said, this should only be done for heavy towing.

I would think you could just splice the wires for now if you have to have it.
