Changing from Auto to Standard

I am going to remove my E40D automatic transmission and put in a standard C6. What is involved in this? I will be removing the computer as i am also switching to a carburated engine so that is not a problem. I know i have to mount the clutch pedal, cut a hole for the shifter etc. but what else is involved? Do i need to change the tranny mounts? Will i need to change the steering column, or can i just remove the shifter and keep the original column? Any other things i should know about?

why would you need a clutch petal or change any linkage to install a c-6 auto. I think the c-6 is a direct replacement for a e4od.

Huh????

The c6 is an automatic, not a standard. There would be no clutch.

Don't they have standard shift C-6's? Ok then, whats a good standard tranny that will handle 500 hp and what will the swap involve?

I think the ZX is a pretty strong tranny. Not sure about the T18 or T19. You could try searching the transmission forum and find alot of opinions regarding these trannies.

Regards,

just a suggestion,
your sig says its going to be a blown 460, so its going to make plenty of torque. qhy dont you go with an automatic like the C6, autos are stronger than manuals anyways. plus, you wont have to worry about replacing your clutch. a C6 with a good torque converter matched up to that blown 460 will be just as much fun to drive as any stick shift, im sure. but either way, good luck with the truck and let us know how everytthing comes out!
