Transmission issues
Two weekends ago, as I was pulling out of a parking lot, I felt a small jolt, my transmission temp jumped up to 195* and my message center popped up with "TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION". It was 103* outside and I have noticed as it has gotten hotter, my transmission temps have climbed as well. When I pulled the codes I got a P0731. I cleared the code, and drove back home (around 2 hours away) and haven't had it since though. I need to get the transmission fluid flushed soon, so hoping that may help the issue. Also, I thought I remembered seeing on here someone putting a F250 trans cooler on their F150, but can't find it. Wondering if that would help as well and how that is done.

Ok, been reading some things about people doing transmission fluid changes themselves and I think I could tackle it. Forgot to mention earlier that my truck has 126k miles and I'm guessing it has never had any trans work/maintenance (I know... I read something wrong and didn't re-read it until much later). So now I'm looking at AMSOIL trans fluid. Do I just need the multi-vehicle AMSOIL ATF? And are those with this ordering it online or locally?

Yes add a cooler if you don't have one, and if you do have a factory cooler add an extra one heat is a HUGE enemy of auto trans.
just read your sig, with that Whipple ADD an extra cooler your probably putting more heat into your trans than I am. FYI after I change my trans fluid my trans lasted about 3 weeks. But I drive my truck like it's a mustang.

I added an after market cooler inline after the factory one, giving me two coolers, mounted the second cooler so it hangs off the bottom of the factory one.

Finally got around to installing a HD trans cooler I got from a member on here and did a fluid flush with AMSOIL. Drove it around this evening and the temperature I used to cruise at (~170*F), I would only get to when I stomped on it. Cruising temperature dropped back down to around 150*F. Feeling like its shifting crisper as well. Hopefully this solves the issue!!!
