HAS ANYBODY REMOVED THE SHIFTER **** FROM A 5 SPEED FROM A LATE MODEL F150 97' TO PRESENT. TO TAPE IT FOR A AFTERMARKET SHIFTER ****. IF THEY DID , WHAT SIZE DID YOU TAP IT TOO, ANDWHAT KNOBDID YOU USE THANKS BOB

 

I replaced mine some time back. I used a Hurst ****. I removed the brass insert, drilled it just under 5/8" and used adhesive, tapped it on and no problem. The shaft is splined. It appears to be 5/8" so you could tap the ball and thread the shaft. I would have done the same thing but I didn't have a die nut. If it ever comes loose that will be my fix.
