Unhappy transmission help needed

The yolk on the rear of my 1978 F-150 has been bent so bad that the driveline rotates in an oval that thumps against my gas tank. The tranny had trouble to begin with so if this doesn't cause me to replace it previous slipage would warrent such an action. It is a manual with a 300CI engine. I believe that it is the overdrive model but am asking assistance in identifying it. I also have an 84 F-150 van with a automatic tranny, can this be swapped without major retrofit. Thanks for the info.

78 Brown 150,

These guys know a lot about transmissions. But mostly, 1997 and up. Your question sounds like it could be answered by an off-road shop. There are a coulple of guys that come to mind when talking about tranny swaps. The first one that came in my head Advanced Adapters, www.advanceadapters.com/. Check out their website and look up their contact info. If they can't help you, ask them to reccomend someone that can. But, I doubt that'll be a problem. Good luck.
