p1747 code problem

hi,
my tranny is acting up. it drops out of OD into 3rd and back. if i take it out of OD and run in 3rd everything is fine. i went to Autozone and got a p1747 code relating to the EPC soloniod. i have a 2000 5.4 liter with, i believe, a 4r70w tranny. it has a 14 bolt pan but i'm not sure which model it is.

i searched the forums and tried all the fixes i could find as follows:

1. no short between pin 81 on the PCM and the plug on the rt. side of the tranny.

2. dropped pan and pulled EPC and jumped it to the battery. it works fine. i could not blow through it till i put power on it then it opened.

3. i put it all back together and stuck a needle onto the white/yellow and measured 9 to 10 volts with the engine running. i think it was higher when the ign. was first turned on. voltage didn't change when put in gear.

4. one thing i didn't check was the plastic wire harness that connects all the stuff together.

any help will be much appreciated.

i just looked for an EPC on line and they all looked different than the one i pulled. i pulled the TCC and tested it instead of the EPC. i now have a diagram showing where it is and will pull it in the morning.

i pulled the EPC and jumped it to the battery and it is working fine; at least on full 12v.
don't know what to do now.

that was the first thing i checked. there was some red oil on the main plug on the rt. side. compressed air and shop towel made no difference.

i'm wondering if something else is causing the OD to drop out and it shows up as this P1747 code.

i gave up and took it to 2 tranny shops. one said the tranny is OK, shifts fine. the other one said the tranny is going out and wants 2400 bucks to rebuild it. i'm going to another one today.
