Baumann shift kit questions.

Any tools you wish you had laying around other than a drill?

With the kit installed on stage 4, does it shift hard at low throttle?

How should I set the levels on the rest of the shifts (2-3, 3-4) if I have 1-2 on stage 4?

Does it not take that long to install the kit.

Are you not very sensative about drilling out a hole in the almighty complicated and sophisticated intricate transmission? I mean, one wrong hole, and... no more transmission. I've changed my tranny filter before. But haven't gone much further than that. Should I be nervous?

Ok. That's all I can congur at the moment. I'm not affraid to install the kit. I just know that I am a very clumsy person, and have been known to produce detrimental results from mere woopses.

I'll try to think of more questions, but for the mean time.

Go for it... : )

Hello Joel,
I put the kit in last weekend, The only other tools I went out & bought were a pair of snap ring pliers & a 3/8 tourqe wrench.
you need to tourqe a few bolts back on when your done & the snap ring pliers make it easier to take out the 1-2 accumulater
snap ring.
As far as setting the levels? Just follow the instructions their are certain settings for each level.
I installed the kit on 4 the 1st time & I was not happy with it. I wanted it to be firmer so I went to 5. I reduced the 1-2 firmness with the accumulater springs so it doesen't jerk my head back at part throttle but at WOT it kicks ***. LOL
There are only like 3/4 holes to drill & it really is easy with the diagrams they provide.
You will do fine & get alot of satisfaction when your done . Beleive me!!
Enjoy yourself & If I can help...

PS: I wrote Baumann about an issue with the intermediate shaft & this was Greggs reply..

"While I don't generally recommend level five for many vehicles, it should
only be stressful on parts located behind the transmission (i.e. U-joints).
Also the intermediate shaft is called the intermediate shaft because it is
located between the Input shaft and output shaft. The intermediate shaft
receives 0% of the engines power until third gear so the advice on leaving
the 1-2 shift softer is completely off. As a final note, factory parts can
vary greatly in quality. I had one car with at least 800 horsepower (not
exaggerated) and one car with about half as much. The 400 horse car broke
the intermediate shaft and the 800 horse car is still going strong. They
both had the same factory shaft. The replacement shafts Ford sells are
stronger (98 level)"
