4r70w 1-2 shift problems

I rebuilt my 4r70w about three months ago. i had a bad forward clutch seal and no forward clutch material. i get it back together and the 1-2 shift is very strange and hesitates. i can get it to shift correctly at 4,750 rpm but hate to wind the engine up like that. if i hold it at a certain rpm it will shift but o.d. light will flash. I replaced the 1-2 accumulator and the problem still occurs. what else is next?? all other shifts are perfect. any help is appreciated

Electronic. The Shift solenoid. Verify with the code.

I tryed to get the codes read at the local advance auto store but it only picked up my o2 sensors and exhaust leak. Would I have to go to a transmission shop to have them read? Would the od light have to be flashing for it to register?

OBDII scanner won't cut it on Fords. I've used mine to get codes from Dodge truck, though. A performance programmer can do it though, or the dealer, etc.

And yes to the cancel light.

Ok i got my codes read and the guys looked up the one it was throwing and since i just replaced the 1-2 accumulator, he thinks the valves inside the shift solenoid are sticking so he put liquid teflon in it and it is shifting easier but still not like what it should. Im thinking about just changing out the shift solenoid.

Yep. I wouldn't mess with an additive. You can get the two shift sols., EPC sol, and TCC sol for 80 on EBay-- OE and new.

You could be driving out of town and lose the board and you'd either drive in 1st all the way home and on the shoulder of the freeway, or get er' towed.

Easy fix you can do yourself.
