Trans temp?
The owner's manual says 170 is normal (I have the 4R70W). Don't know if that's 170 in South Alabama in the summer or Alaska in the winter! I installed a temp gauge and was running around 170 (solo - 195 towing) in the South Alabama summer. I've changed to Amsoil synthetic, and my solo temp had dropped to 155 or so. I'm hoping to see the same drop when towing!

I would like to get a more exact Trani temp reading by installing a gauge. Can someone tell me whats a good one to use, are they easy to install and about how much do they cost?
thanks.

Auto meter makes a wide range of trans temp gauges. They run from $35-$100.
You could buy an electrical or mechanical type.
I would recommend mechanical, they give a more precise reading.
