Torque Converter Options - OEM vs. CVC
I'm looking at a torque converter replacement on my 2001 4.6 and my mechanic has offered two options - OEM or a CVC.
He's not pushing me hard either way, but he's very high on the CVC - says it has a much better clutch plate (carbon micron?).
I'm trying to figure out if it's worth the extra $$$ and was wondering what other folks thought.
Thanks for any feedback.

I can't offer a recommendation. But if you think that it's a modest price difference, and you trust your mechanic's recommendation, then go for it. Either way, I'm certain that they'll function the same. And torque converters rarely go bad anyways. They're simple devices with a clutch for the lockup funciton. The OE friction material works just fine.

It would be $150 more for the CVC. Since the OEM one lasted 90K miles
and I don't know how much longer I'll have the truck, I'm leaning that way.
