today driving to my hunting grounds my tranns lost overdrive. the truck would not accelerate and it reved up like it was in park or nutral. I first shifted it down to second gear and it downshifted to that gear put it back into drive and it was fine for the rest of the drive. On the way home it happened again and would not catch itself untill I pressed the overdrive lockout button on the gear selector lever. It will work in 1,2,3 but not overdrive. My truck is a 99 150 4.6 4x4.. any ideas would be helpfull and greatly appreciated

mine is the same way on my '04 not postive but i think its the overdrive band. I took mine to a tranny shop and they told me the computer tells it to shift but it only revs. good luck

 

I had the same problem on my 04 @ 112,xxx miles... No transmission shops around here wanted to touch it without doing a full rebuild. I just ended up buying a Ford reman and getting the 3 year/100K warranty.

I drove around with O/D off for about 4 months while I saved up the coin.
