Fun at the dealer
I have a 1999 4x4 SC 4.6 4R70W. The tran developed a tiny leak at the hole in the 'bellhousing' where the round rubber plug is.
Took it in, the dealer where I bought it said tranny had major problems and replaced the torque converter, front pump & piston, and the front seal. Before Ford got their fingers on it, the truck drove very smooth, no problems other than the leak.
When I got it back, it drove as if the brakes were dragging, and the tranny shudders during a 1-2 shift. Dealer said drive it, normal, bye bye.
Drove about 100 miles to a little league tournament, now a really loud whine is coming from the rear, direct proportion to the forward speed, not engine noise.
Took it in today (Mon), now it needs a new tranny and some bearings in the rear end (it's a limited slip). They didn't remove the diff cover, I think the ring and pinion are shot too. The diff got so hot you couldn't keep your hand on it.
Are Ford dealers always this helpful? They said it would be ready Wed, maybe it will be on fire when I pick it up.
Has anyone heard of dealers causing problems to run up warranty work? Is there a customer service rep from Ford I can talk to, not someone at the dealer?
Thanks, and have a better day than mine!

Sorry to say traildog but my experiences with all my local dealers have been horror stories. Unexplained scratches, shoddy work, and to add insult to injury you get the privelgage of waiting one to three weeks to get your truck back.
My warranty is up and am glad to be doing my own work. I still have'nt gone back for my lug nut recall even though my wife rides my @$$ about it.
