Stuck in Park.

First I'd like to say that I already read the related posts and the only one that applied was with a guy doing some wiring. I checked fuses 14, 15 and 16 but they are fine and I replaced the battery with a fully charged one. I ran the diagnostic on my griffon too.

05 F150 FX4 stuck in park. I left my lights on while I was cleaning my truck and I killed my battery. I called a tow company for a boost and after it started I couldn't take it out of park. What now?

Next step is call the dealership? I can drive it still cuz I ripped the console apart and disconnected the linkage so I can shift it in and out of park that way, but it's pretty ghetto and I need to fix it properly cuz I have an appointment with a body shop next week.

Maybe this is similar to your problem and might help.

No. I have the opposite problem. My shifter is locked in park, so I disconnected the linkage on purpose to be able to drive the truck. The lever doesn't move, but the tranny works. There is a white button on the left side of the shifter inside the console by the linkage that moves when I apply the brakes. This is good because that's what disengages the park brake when you shift into gear. When I press the button on the Shifter itself(the normal one that you press to come out of park) I can hear some electrical noise around the ignition in the steering column. Maybe a connection problem between the brake pedal and the tranny?

Sounds like you have a bad interlock unit (the thing with the white button). It does not release the parking brake...that is the mechanism that releases the shift lever allowing it to move. It's in the neighborhood of around $100 if I remember correctly. Not an uncommon problem with these trucks.

Thumbs down

I brought it to the dealership. The problem was the shifter. I bought a Haynes manual first, but all the fixes said put the shifter into neutral. That was my whole problem. The Brake/Tranny Interlock was functional and the solenoid was functional. The Bypass didn't work because the shifter was broke. End result was $1000 for parts/labour and diagnosis. D'oh.
