transmission trouble

I have a 2004 F150, with the 5.4 motor. My tranny started slipping and now my reverse is gone. I wanted to know from other members here who rebuilt there tranny was it worth it? how long has it been rebuilt before giving trouble if any? I would also like to know is there a different tranny that can be bolted up to the 5.4 motor that would be more reliable?

go get your tranny rebuilt, yes it is worth it if you need your vehicle and stick with the trans u have for the most part a good trans. Mine lasted to 100k and i do a fair amount of heavy towing. I was fortunate to have a buddy that owns a trans shop so i pulled the tranny out myself bought all my own parts and had him rebuild it all in all i spent maybe 600 bucks but im sure a normal shop is going to charge upwards of 2g's for a full r/r and bench build. You can also purchase a rebuilt trans around a grand and diy. Well good luck
