help finding out what tranny i have
I have an 04 new body style f150, 4x4, 5.4. Where can I find what tranny I have? I pull a trailer a lot and want to help out my clutches all I can with a mechanical shift kit etc and not just bump up the line pressure. I heard that doesn't necessarily help out the situation. Any help would be nice. Also any advice to help out the tyranny would be sweet too, it operates fine with no slipping or anything, but with 107k on the ticker I just want to help prevent anything bad from happening.
You have a 4R75W with the 5.4L. I just had my trans rebuilt and they installed a transgo shift kit. Keep in mind the computer controlls the shifting in these trans when they are in automatic mode and that will affect your shift kit unless you have a tuner to compinsate for it.
nope 4r75w. 4r75e came out in 06. trust me.

for the trucks yes. In 96 all 4r70s got a deeper pan and a revised filter. The pan has that hump in the bottom where it sucks from. The early pans were flat and would lose suction around corners especially when cold.
