My excursion does that. It goes directly into reverse while backing out of the driveway then I put it into drive and it has a very slight delay. And visa versa, when I drive it then put it into reverse to back it into a parking spot there is a slight delay. Is this what you are talking about?

I think that they all have a slow reverse engagement, some more than others. My reverse is very slow to engage.

My truck isint like that but the excursion is. I never really put much thought into it until you pointed it out. If you figure it out update the thread.

Delayed

Mine has about a 3 second delay since I backed into a pole.....long story, you can do a search for "fight club"

Shifts fine in all other gears.

Havent timed it, but mine is also what I would consider very slow to go into reverse.

I just put it in reverse and wait till I feel it engage before I get on the gas. If you dont it tends to lurch. I had noticed it, but I dont think there is a major issue with it, it always goes into gear eventually. Contemplating a rebuild, if I do go that route, I can post back if it changes.
