Shift Kit

I have 2004, Ford F150, 5.4, with an Edge tuner, would one be better served with a shift kit?

I'm about to service my transmission, and was thinking of adding it as I did the service.

you would need a custom tune for the edge. since it already increases line pressure. you can turn the line pressure down using the edge but with the shift kit it will still be to much. with i shift kit your line pressure/shift pressure setting need to be at stock or sometimes even lower.

but yes a shift kit would suit you best. you would need to remove the valvebody and either replace it or the separator plate (depends on the shift kit) a full VB swap would be the best way to do it. you will also need a torque wrench that does in/lbs NOT FT/LBS

Hey Jimmy,

Thanks for the reply, my friend. I went ahead without the kit, I changed the filter and fluid yesterday, so I'll wait for the tranny rebuild (I hope I don't need one for a while!)I see you're a mustang guy too!

I've been looking into this as well. I've also got an '04 f150, 5.4l 3v and have been looking into the Factory Tech Sperator Plate. I've been scouring for performance reviews, but they don't seem to be on the newer trucks, just the heritage and before. Trying to see if it's worth the trouble to upgrade it.
