Want to hear a joke?
HI!... I bought my 9.75 gears for $480.00(CAN)!!! and had my dealer replace them for $385.OO(CAN). Sounds like the parts guy at your local dealers needs to get his head out of his a$$!lol!
$450 installed for one pumpkin is not a bad price, as long as good quality gears are used (i.e. none of that cheap overseas Asian stuff). As we speak, I am stuffing U.S. Gear Torq-Line 4.10's into my pumpkins by my lonesome. I chose to do this install myself to save $600 to $700 on labor (for both front and rear of 4x4) from the local differential shop installation experts. Wish me luck..lol!

that is funny, but you want to hear something even funnier? i stopped by the dealer, you know just for ****s and giggles, to ask about regearing the rear end. he looked at it, said it was a 9.75"(it is), said it was a locker (no), and said the biggest we could put in there is 3.73 (no). oh, and he said "its going to be expensive." how much i asked? "i think about $1400 with labor". what kinda crack are they smoking? i just laughed and said i dont think so. late!
