Trans Flush...
Trans Flush...
im going to get my oil flushed and they said they only do it through the dipstick instead of dropping the pan...is there that much a difference to matter...which is the better way to get it done...if im going to spend the money i want it done right...thanks for any help...
The way to do it right is not get a "flush" - get an "exchange" using a machine. The machine taps into the cooler lines and it uses the tranny pump with the engine running to draw the old fluid out and suck the new fluid in.
Sucking it out the dipstick is bogus - that only gets about 5 quarts out and the system holds about 14.

well i found a place that does it that way but they recommend dropping the pan and replacing the filter...said about 180 for the whole process...does that seem right...sorry to bother you with all the questions...i got more but wont bother yall too much...
I had my filter changed once and had one flush. I will be doing another flush at the dealer pretty soon.

Oddly enough the local 3 dealers to me all do the flush method with a cleaning additive so I'll be doing it myself.
Unfortunately my wife's ford explorer sport trac is a closed system and they are doing her's Thursday for $200. I'm not happy about their BS fluid flush but I have no other option.
