B&M tranny pan leaking

Bought the B&M deep cast aluminum transmission pan for my 07. Used the stock gasket as Ford says they are re-usable and mine appeared to be in good shape. When I dropped the stock pan of course that funny yellow plug was in the pan telling me that it was probably the first time the transmission had been serviced in 70k miles. I installed the new pan which includes a funky little M12 set screw because the pan is made for both the AOD and the 4R70W/4R75 series. Depending on which tranny you have depends on where the bolt goes and the M12 screw goes. The bolt pattern has one odd bolt depending on your transmission.

The instructions say to use plumbers tape on the M12 screw. Like an idiot I used teflon plumbers paste instead. Sure enough I started getting a leak at the M12 screw. I figured what the hell, I'll just pull the screw and put it back in with the teflon tape. I pulled the screw and ATF came pouring out so I see the need for having the screw there. I had to put the screw back and then drain the pan. After draining all the fluid and cleaning everything up, I taped up the M12 screw, installed it back in and re-filled the tranny. I took it for a drive and it seems to be OK so far.

Anybody else have this issue with the B&M pan? I am hoping swapping to the recommended tape solve the problem.

I had pretty much the same thing. I took the pan off. Used tread seal on the m12 plug. Ran the set screw in to be level with pan gasket surface. Stuck it on and it hasn't leaked in the last 500 miles.

Well, it seems to be holding up fine now. Serves me right for thinking I was smarter than the instructions.
