can i put a 2wd 4 speed f150 tranny and engine in a 4x4

i have a 2wd 1986 f150 engine and tranny that are in good shape. can i pull that out of my 2wd and put it in my 4wd 1986 f150? i have a new clutch and water pump and wanted to leave the engine and tranny together. can it be done? what will i be getting into?

No.

A 4x4 tranny has a splined output shaft and mount for the transfer case. A 4x2 unit has a sealed tailshaft and yoke for a driveshaft.

Only way to do what you want to do is on a pre '77 F-250 divorced transfer case setup.
