hey man, dont worry, i just yanked mine out of my 2002 screw and am gunna get it rebuilt. it has 140,000 on it. yeah, its expensive but it happens to them all. Think of it this way, if you had a chevy, you would probably be on your second rebuilt by now. lol.

But just curious, what happened? and who told you your planetary gears gernaded? cuz that rarely happens!! you musta been putting the thing through hell most likely for that to happen.

and just so you know, Troyer Performance, our beloved supplier of go fast parts and killer custom tunes also bebuilds trannys. thats who im sending mine to. they are gunna build it up a bit. work it over better than stock that way it lasts. and in all reality, shipping aside, they aren't gunna be much more expensive to build it up than the local Ford dealer who wants to put it back to stock. and i trust troyer MUCH MUCH more than i do my ford dealership. granted my ford dealership sucks, but it happens.

It don't seem much too tough to break down after bearly over 100k miles......maybe its just me but I expected to be well into 100k before having to drop this kinda money on a rebuild........

Dude after looking it up online turns out im getting a pretty damn good deal....I have "big red" back now and she is running better than ever but damn even thoug it was a "good deal" i'd just as well have those 1600 Benny's in my pocket ya know......but oh well it is what it is......the mechanic showed me what was left of the gear....it got shreaaded.....and to be honest I dunno how.......I am as gentle with this truck as ever.....sure aside from you snow/camping trips every year or so....this thing is a get around town vehicle.....guess that's why I was so pissy .....but I've come to terms with it....it is what it is......now that its done I just hope to have it for another 100k before I have to drop mad cash again........

Did you buy it new? If not, how do you know how the previous owner treated it? Did you ever do preventative maintenance, such as fluid changes?
