Transmission hesitating to get out of first gear

So usually in the mornings or after my truck sits, it hesitates to get out of first gear..especially on inclines. I was at a stop light the other day (on a slight incline) and i gave it gas and it reved up but wouldnt go anywhere. A transmission fault light came on and the O/D light started flashing. I put it in park and pressed the O/D button and was able to shift into gear and get going. I started the truck up after that and the fault was gone and the yellow wrench light was off. I took it to the dealer and the come back with an OSS sensor.
Now I understand that may have been the code thrown when the truck wouldn't accelerate and reved up, but how would a bad OSS sensor not like the truck go into gear? And for it to clear on its own?

Any suggestions?
