my o/d light is flasshing and beeping. when the light flashes the msg center says trans fault. it stays on for about 8 seconds then disappears. the truck runs great no slipping,jerking,or difficult shifting. it is an automatic. i just replaced the battery and had a friend at my work hook it up to the sdi and it noted hard acceleration. the computer updated the truck and it was great. 2 days ago this light appeared and it comes and goes. any ideas before i have to take it in? single mom 2 kids no money.... you know.. there are tons of us out there. any hel would be appreciated.. thanks!!!

 

You need to take it in and get the codes read. Autozone's scanners can't read trans codes, you need a shop with an advanced scanner than can read Ford tranny codes.

 

The majority of these types of concerns do not require major repairs. Could be a minor issue with a electrical component etc. Take it in to get checked out as operating the vehicle in this state, could cause damage (to somthing else) that may cost more in the long run. Good luck!
