4x4 low and overdrive

On my 2004 F150 fx4, whenever I push the overdrive button on the shifter nothing happens. No light comes on and it makes no difference. What can I check to see if it is broken or not? Also how do I engage 4x4 low? On both of my F150's the 4x4 low does not engage. 4x4 high does but not the low option. Both are electronic switches.

Your TCS switch in the shifter is likely hooped. Cheap part and easy to replace. All that switch does is command the PCM to inhibit a 3-4 upshift. Later models that would be a tow/haul switch. Cheers!

It is listed in the owners manual. If you do not have one, you can download one for free from www.motorcraftservice.com.

No both of my F150s were bought used and I seldom ever used the 4x4 low so I didn't realize that it engages differently than 4x4 hi.
