He can get it to go away with the application of some extra throttle.
I have the same thing happen to my truck! I don't know what it is it's driving me crazy. It feels like is slips and catches again and you can feel it pretty good. Let me know what you find out!

Gear Slipping

I read a few of your guys blogs and I'm having the same problem with my truck...
I just noticed it tonight and had no prior problems, The tuck has not been driven hard, or 4x4 and only has 95 000 k.....I have no idea what the problem is... In drive, it slips if you let off the gar and repress the gas, especially going up hill....When i'm at a stop for example a light and hold the gas down steady it doesn't seem to have a problem, as soon as i take foot off and back on at times it slips....
I did notice if you keep the overdrive on it doesn't slip....

This is trial and error right now and i'm looking to find a mechanic who knows how to fix this....Anyone have any advice with respect to this, or if there are any other concerns????>????>

Tranny filter and flush, new plugs, new cops, new fuel filter and your prob should be solved. At 95000 miles your tranny should be perfectly fine...should be. My '97 has 141000 and tranny is like new, food for thought. When you take your foot off the gas and then back on it is the torque converter for a moment un-locking and then locking back in. What do you mean if you keep the overdrive "on" it doesnt slip? I assume you meant "off" and if thats the case the converter stays locked in..

Hey thanks ParAZ,

Ya it's weird, I've been driving the truck in over drive all weekend and the slipping doesn't occur. That can't be good doing that all the time, it just sucks I'm in school for another month and whats the cost for all that....

The slipping problem seems to happen driving in traffic. On and off the gas, seems to slip at all time in drive. Off the line though no problems with a constant gas. And for my truck, it's a constant slip, i was reading some of the other guys threads and they only slip up hills and once in a while.....

I just don't understand how random it happened, i don't drive my truck hard and keep on my maintenance.

Having said all that.....Is this a warranty issue or defect with ford? And if so they should do a recall and fix this.

If it is plugs and COPs, there is no warranty. Also, this would not be a recall item as recalls are for things that involve safety.

Coil on Plugs. There is a coil that sits on top of each plug.

Ya i got the over drive stuff all wrong, I was misunderstood to the over drive.
The Slipping only happens when i have the overdrive on, when i have the overdrive off, the light on my dash "od off" is present it does not slip. And when it's on, yes it the torque converter is unlocking and locking in... How bad is that on the tranny, i've been avoiding doing that and letting off the gas to engage it easier

The problem is all the time now when "overdrive is on"....When over drive is off, at about 40 k it still does it from time to time.....
What do i need to do to get it fixed?
