TCs without drain plugs

howdy...i'm about to do a fluid change on my 2004 FX4 with the 4r75 and much to my surprise i crawled under and had my friend turn the crank several times to find NO DRAIN PLUG on the tc i realize that a lot of people just take the tc out and take it to the shop and have them do a fluid change but i was wondering if there was an easier way that anybody has thought of which requires...well not taking out the tc (i know i'm asking a lot with my luck but i may as well check right??)

Easiest way is take it to a shop and get the fluid exchanged with a machine. The TC doesn't have to come out.

Welcome to the board.

Unhook both cooler lines from your radiator, use two short hoses to direct into a bucket, idle until empty, change your filter easily with an empty pan, then refill the amount removed.

That doesn't sound very safe, running the transmission till all the fluid runs out.
Wont that burn something up?

If you just idle it until it starts blowing bubbles that'll get most of the fluid out and it doesn't hurt anything. Obviously you don't want to let run that way for long, just long enough to get the majority of the fluid out.

I wouldn't advise it. Mark Kovalsky has a procedure to follow to do that SAFELY.

http://www.ford-trucks.com/article/i...nsmission.html

It works with a 4R70 and 4R75 too, just adjust quantities.

Sure it might if you go watch the football game, or try to to drive away, but your not doing that.
