you would need a whole parts truck to make the swap beneficial. Trans, pcm, wiring harness, front and rear driveshafts. Trip to the dealer to get the pcm programmed for the truck because of pats. It's not worth doing.

exactly. i originally wanted to do the 4R100 when i realized the ZF5 was gonna be too much work for now. but soon realized it was even more work . and from what everyone has told me the 75E is a really strong transmission and will do well . i also may throw a shift kit in later on.

If I had a vehicle with a 4R70 and it needed work and/or you are going to be running it under high power/torque conditions such as with major mods, I'd get Darrin Burch to build me one.

It's a little different when you live in Canada and get absolutely raped on customs when it comes across the border for anything. I paid $600 customs on my L charger when it got here PA. I couldn't imagine a $3000 trans. Would be $1000 just in Customs. More than I paid for a 5000 mile 4r75e

Oh, I understand why you did what you did - I said what I did for the benefit of the other participants in this thread who live down here.

ok, so i got the transmission installed. the linkage is REAL loose and even manually doesnt want to shift out of neutral it seems. you can shift through to 1-2, then when trying to go back it when you hit R it grinds a bit. im thinking it isnt really shifting and when i hit that point its trying to shift too far. and either way the truck wouldnt move. so when i get off today im going to tighten up the linkage and try to get it running. any tips?

Gotts, looks like you got everything to work out well with the swap? My reverse gear is about shot, and the forward gears are starting to slip. I am going to swap for a lower mileage tranny in a few months and came across your thread. I have a 99 expedition with a 4.6 and 4r70w. Since you've had the 4r75e in for a few months, how do you like it? What was all involved in the swap? Looks like a custom tune and swapping the solenoid out? If you can fill me in on everything you did, I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks,
Zerick

with the sct drives just like it used to. Yes swap out the EPC solenoid and don't forget to change the connector on the OSS sensor

Sweet! Sounds like a fairly simple swap. Both trans are the same dimensions and everything? I'm planning on getting an Edge programmer, that will work the same as the SCT right? Appreciate the quick response.

no an edge will not work. The case of both tranny's are the the same thing, it bolts right in. It really is a simple swap. Talk to Mike at 5 star tuning, he did mine.
