04 auto, 3rd gear appears to be no lonager there
I wonder about the new 6 speed trans, if it will prove more reliable. I think a major part of the problem with the 4r75 is they took out the drain plug in the torque converter. Hard to service. In 2010 they took out the dip stick. Now I'm told there is a drain pug in the pan that has an inner bolt you remove that to fill the transmission fill it until fluid come out I was told. Ford isnt making them maintainable.. Some day you'll buy a truck and it wont have a hood latch..
Thats what they want...they dont want us to be able to work on them....They want us to have to pay big money to have them do the work....I thought I heard that you have to remove the cab of the truck to remove the engine in these trucks....Is this true? If so thats rediculous.
Didn't read your entire thread but my 2002 4spd auto went out just like yours.
Got it rebuilt for $2200 and is 4x4. Also threw some beefier components in. It went out at 80k and I had serviced it twice.
