1977 C6 Questons

I'm confused about which ATF to use. I've been putting Dex/Merc in it, but should I use Type F?

And I need to remove the pan, beat out a dent, and replace it with new gasket. How much fluid will it need, without draining the torque converter?

thanks,
Moose

66-76 = Type F

77-96 = Mercon

But really you can run either of them. The story goes that the Mercon was used to make for smoother shifts. I run Type F in my 79 C4 and I would think that most high performance applications of these transmissions would run Type F.

It takes Mercon and the pan holds 6 quarts.
