Since the weather has been getting colder I have noticed that when I start my truck in the morning it does not like to go into first or second but usually will slide right into third, until I drive a couple miles and everything warms up.
The clutch is new and the tranny fluid on has maybe 1100 miles on it.

Did you replace the pilot bearing when you did the clutch job? Did you use the correct tranny fluid?

ur slave cylinder is prolly gettin bad, and sittin all night it bleeds off, have had same problems in the past, prolly y after 2nd it gets pressured up good is y 3rd goes so easy.... just a thought, try bleeding it and see if that helps

 

The slave cylinder better not be bad or Perfection Clutches will be getting call.
I'm going to bleed it as soon as my friend gets back and can give me a hand.
I tried pumping the clutch a couple times today and that made no difference.

 

hell u got me? does the pedal feel good? or is it kinda stiff and not fluid all the way through? cz if everything is good clutch, thrw bearing, slave cylinder, then ur synchronizers may be bad? just shootin in the dark here

 

The clutch feels the same as always, it never has had full travel but that doesn't make a difference once it's warm.
The damned thing has 245xxx miles so bad syncrhos would be no surprise.

 

haahaaahaa yeah usually they dont even last that many miles nowa days!! but hell i had a 91 ranger doin similar one time and i went and bought sum Lucas Oil stabilizer, even though them manual trans take ATF, i drained tranny put about half a quart of that and topped off with the atf. bout a week later maybe sooner if started shiftin alot better, cz mine was good 1,2, but 3 was the hard one, 4, then OD was bad too, and it fixed it. im a very loyal Lucas fan, have had that stuff keep sum of my wore out **** alive way longer than they shlda. my 06 has 90, 000 on it and i run lucas everything, power steering, atf, and motor oil

 

Well I bled the clutch out pretty good and whatya know, shifts like a dream.
I wanna know why this happened though, I don't want to have to bleed the clutch every thousand miles.

 

Maybe it has something to do with taking your truck for a swim?

Didn't you dunk it a few days ago?
If you did, then did you change the fluid? No! (1100 miles)
If you didn't dunk it then sorry for confusing you with somebody else.

 

Ha..caught me. That's what I was going to blame it on, Glad I've managed to make a name for myself here..
I changed the oil but not the tranny fluid, I checked it and the front and rear gears and the t-case though.
Oh and I took off my air intake and trottle body and cleaned out some mud, and leaves, and I think half a fish.

 

OH and it had been hard to get in gear when cold before i turned it into a submarine.

 

Can't get much past us old guys (at least when we are awake)!

You may not have it bled out real good from doing the clutch job.

Can't expect much more out of a kid than to sink his truck right... hahah
It probably could of been bled more when I first did it, but I was so anxious that I managed to pull it off as soon as it worked I took it outta the garage. I just hope it doesn't happen again or the master cylinder is next.
Last two times I looked over my shoulder the cop was there haha.

 

Reverse bleed it. Use a pump or a syringe to force fluid in the bleeder screw and out the top of the reservoir.
