7.3 4r100 swap

Okay, well I came across a really good deal on a 4r100 transmission (50k miles) if I want it. It came out of a buddys excursion that he replaced with a "racing" trans. My question is.. is there a way possible to mount a 4r100 off of a 2wd 2001 excursion to a f150 with a 4.6 from 98? I was told I would need a different torque converter, but not much else. I was just curious to see if thats something that would work or if I should tell them im good.

The bellhousing bolt pattern is different. WAY different. Then there's the whole 4r100 into a truck that came with 4r70w can of worms. I'd pass unless you plan to do a 7.3 swap.

Changing to a 4r100 is a pretty major swap. You'll have to get a pcm from a truck that had a 4r100 and get it tuned to run your 4.6l. You'll also need a custom driveshaft and I believe the crossmember for the tranny will be different.

Well, I meant not much else as in.. the dude who I talked to didnt realy know what he was talking about. And his father told me that, but I guess his dad doesnt really know about ford transmissions. I know he had rebuilt a few engines and some trans for chevys though. He has a 71 nova that he built a trans for.

Just to give you an idea. I spent about 8K on my swap!!! 5K was for the trans. The other 3K was mostly parts and some labor.
